 My name is Dan McCrary, father of 3 girls and married to my best friend for over 10 years. I started tinkering with coffee back in 2020 when I got my first espresso machine, a Rocket Boxer. Making great espresso using locally roasted beans quickly became a hobby and a passion for me. So much so, that I opened a coffee shop in small town, Denver Iowa in 2021. After a year operating the coffee shop, the obsession continued to grow and I bought my coffee roaster in 2022. After about 100 lbs of over cooking, then undercooking, having my family and friends suffer through never ending test roasts, it finally clicked. Roasting is both an art and a science. Each bean and origin roasts differently from the last, and that's what I love, and embrace in coffee.

-The Shift to Better Coffee- My goal with PCR is to embrace seasonality and nuances of coffee. Just like vegetables in a garden, each plant is unique. While big coffee companies burn coffee for complete replicability, I roast each origin to bring out its unique flavor profiles. Burnt is easy when you’re focused on quantity — Craft is when you care about quality.
